I need to find a place to rent. Where do I start?
-
A.
Before you start searching for your new home it’s a good idea to write down a budget. What are your current outgoings and what money do you have left each month to spend on rent? Take into account that, when you first move in, you will need to payt a deposit as well as the first month’s rent.

Q?
Why do I have to pay a deposit?
-
A.
The landlord trusts the tenant to keep the property in a good condition and in good order. The landlord also expects you to pay your rent in time, or stay until the end of your rental agreement. The deposit is held to ensure that any damages (over and above fair wear and tear), unpaid rent and not complying with the notice period in your lease. The deposit allows the landlord to correct those things financially at the end of your lease. If everything is in good order at the end of your lease you will be refunded in full within 14 working days on the bankaccount where it was originally paid from.

A.
A tenancy agreement is a contract signed by both the tenant and the landlord. It outlines all the rules to which both parties must comply. It tells the starting date and rent amount. It's the signed agreement between you and the landlord.
